Jazz fest in Warsaw
The 50th International Jazz Jamboree opens in Warsaw tonight with a concert by the sixty eight year-old vocalist All Jarreau.
The featured artists also include such household names as the French pianist, arranger and composer Michel Legrand, the Cuban-born trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and the Polish pianist Wojciech Karolak, now celebrating the 50th anniversary of his musical career. The Warsaw Jazz Jamboree is one of the world's oldest jazz festivals.
The long list of top jazzmen who performed in Warsaw in past decades includes Stan Getz, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Muddy Waters and Miles Davis.
