Legal issues

To rent a flat in Warsaw you will need to sign an agreement with the owner of the flat, and in most cases pay a value of monthly rent in advance, which will be returned to you when the agreement is over. In most cases your owner should register you in the flat for a time period of the contract. I recommend to discuss this with the owner before you sign a contract.
If you are going to apply for a temporary residence or work permit in Poland this registration and a contract for a flat is one of the requirements.

Payments

The amount you pay for the flat differs from the contract but usually on top of the monthly payment you will have to pay a separate bill for the electricity and gas, heating and a payment for a property maintenance so called "czynsz".

Prices for renting a flat in Warsaw went UP, i think the minimum now is 1500 -2000 PLN.

I don't see why prices would not go up, last year Poland had the biggest increase in prices for the property. A lot of property in Warsaw was bought buy neighbours from the EU states because they had a similar jump in prices couple of years ago and it is a very good investment. Or may be it was:)?

so what would be a price for an apartment in Warsaw, let's say 200 m2? in the city centre or nice area, close to the centre.

Hi Tramp, price for the flat you asked is going to be above 1 400 000 PLN (zlotych), the lowest price is 6400 PLN per square meter...

Negotiate Tramp, negotiate....:)
right now the situation on the market is stable, rather getting better for the buyer.
more to choose from and better time for negotiation, the heat of increasing prices is over, i think.
Developers are showing signs of not selling well, some are giving out new peugeot cars if you buy a flat in Warsaw:)

I think Warsaw is a pet friendly city, I have not seen "No Pet allowed" signs.
A lot of dogs and cats on the streets,-) but for the flat it's up to the owner of the property I think, you just need to ask.
Lot's of friends have pets and they rent no probs, without any pet deposit.
In general there is no big deal... nobody cares, nobody writes on their rental ads "NO PETS" but it's always nice to ask the owner :)
